About the Region:

Hartsel was named after Samuel Hartsel, a cattle rancher who came to Park County in 1860. He raised cattle, sheep, pigs and variety of crops on fifteen thousand acres of land. He also built a sawmill, Blacksmith shop, trading post along with Hartsel hot springs. He was a big part of developing Hartsel in the 1880 also known as “The Heart of Colorado” because of its location in the center of the state, Samuel left Harsel in the 1908.
